How to Check If your Radiators Require Power Flushing

Power flushing your radiators on a regular basis is a major step to keep up your heating system in its best condition. Power flushing eliminates the sludge-like rusted metal which corroded from the system pipes. If these are not cleaned, it can bring a significant damage to your boiler. So, when your central heating system is not working the same way before, you should power flush it right away.

How can tell if your radiators are already in need of power flushing? Well, that is so simple. You just need to watch out closely for any signs in the water. The water should be always clean. When there is a sudden change, it’s best to check the radiators and flush them when necessary.

The radiators need to bleed some time and that’s normal. You should be alarmed only when it happens most of the time. It signifies that something is wrong. Power flushing is the right solution to this issue. Some other cases wherein radiators need power flushing are when they take more time to reheat if they have cold spots, or when they get very hot together with the pipes.

How to Clean and Power Flush Your Radiators

This cleansing process is carried out with the Power Flush & Magnetite machines. These pieces of equipment will be attached to your heating system. The principle at the back of these is to form a strong flow of fresh water in a controlled condition. With this, the debris within the heating system will be eliminated. Once the Magnetite and Power Flush cleaning machines are connected to your heating system, a chemical cleaner will be added to your system.

The contaminated water that might be collected by the radiators will pass through your system. This contaminated fluid will come out together with the circulating black oxide substance called sludge. This material will be removed by using a big magnet that will attract the magnetic iron oxide apart from the flow. Debris will be eliminated quickly to prevent chemical cleaning solution saturation with the sludge. This leads to a more efficient power flush.

If a new heating system or boiler is installed, a manual flushing will be performed. The water will circulate across the heating system to break down any jointing agent or flux that were before introduced to your system. They will turn into spare parts, making it easier to clean the system, especially the radiators.

The inhibitor will help in protecting your heating system from inside, preventing the formation of oxide sludge in the system. This will ensure maximum efficiency as well as minimum fuel use. These are two great benefits, right? Ultimately, when the power flush is completed and the system is already fully working, the radiators will be checked for any cold spots together with the inhibitor levels to make sure that the concentration levels will be right for your system and these will be recorded to a commissioning sheet.

Radiators must be flushed with care. For your peace of mind, why don’t you entrust the job to experts instead of facing it alone?
